Meet the Founders
Marcio Araujo
Dr. Marcio Araujo, PE, is the Co-Founder of MCA Engineering, LLC, which was established in 2019 in Baton Rouge. Dr. Araujo has worked as discipline lead, project manager, C/S department manager, office operations manager, construction supervisor and academic researcher. He has successfully completed industrial, commercial and residential projects ranging from fire station building to process unit expansions for multiple clients. Originally from Brazil, where he received his undergraduate education, he moved to the US in pursuit of higher education and received his MS and Doctorate degrees in civil engineering from Louisiana State University. He is a proud Tigers fan with interest in innovative technology applications including the use of virtual, augmented and hybrid realities applied to structural engineering.
Dick Farmer
Richard (Dick) Farmer is the Co-founder and Operations Lead of the business. Originally from Longview, Texas, he graduated from Louisiana Tech with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1980 and began employment with Shell Oil Company in a plant engineering role. In 2018, he retired from Shell after over 37 years of employment in their Chemical, Oil, and Lubricants business segments. This included assignments in 8 different locations across the US in various engineering, project management, logistics, and operational excellence positions. Managerial positions included assignments in operations, maintenance, engineering, and capital project management. Through this time with Shell, he was involved in utilizing and managing direct and contract civil/structural engineering resources for various aspects of petrochemical operations from maintaining industrial, warehousing, and marine facilities to major capital improvement projects. In the last 8 years of his career in industry, Richard had the opportunity to experience the high level of contract Civil/Structural support that Dr. Araujo provided at two manufacturing locations in South Louisiana. During this Time Dr. Araujo consistently demonstrated the ability to excel in technical knowledge and teamwork skills as well as dedication to quality of work and customer service. With this combination of skills and customer focus, Richard knew that a partnership would be successful.
